Karen Gwyer

US-born Berliner Karen Gwyer shifts between stomping, hypnotic, thickly melodic, bass-laden tumbling left-of-techno dancefloor vibes and diversionary acidic psychedelia in her expansive, largely analogue live performances. Following her first releases on Patten’s Kaleidoscope label (2012) and No Pain In Pop, Gwyer went on to establish her critically-acclaimed signature sound via releases for labels such as Opal Tapes and Don’t Be Afraid, solidifying her place in underground techno and beyond.

Renowned for her singular live techno experiences, Gwyer’s most recent projects have included a special commission for Christian Marclay (winner of the 2011 Venice Biennale Golden Lion), a site-specific performance for Berlin’s Pop-Kultur Festival, and a remix of Ursula Vaughan Williams and Malcolm Williamson’s opera The Brilliant and the Dark.
